Busy when I got to work, but not now... only one patient in the ED.
My recent computer foul-up has made me think about some things... like, I really need to set up a Linux box for network access.
I have all of the pieces, I just need to put them together. Well, I guess that I would have to buy a network card, about 30 bucks, but except for that... I've got an old motherboard, some spare memory, two hard drives, the modem, a CD drive, a mono monitor... I just need to put them all together. I really shouldn't have to depend on a WIN98 machine for net access, especially if I'm going to be playing with it, the way I do mine.

I'm back!
I did something stupid, and crashed this machine hard. And I learned a few things, the way that I usually learn stuff... the hard way.
Like, when a program says, "Steal my software, will you? I'll f**k you machine up!" it's not always an idle threat.
O'well, it was time for a re-format anyway... anyhoo, my problems are detailed in previous and as-yet unpublished entries... I'll have them up in a few days.
I thought that I'd better get this up tonight, though, because I know that people have been worried... I got a lot of hits on my Is Doug Dead? page... no, not yet! But definitely older, wiser and more wrinkled.
I've had a lot of trouble setting up WIN98 again... I guess that I've gotten dumber since the last time that I did it, not too awfully long ago.
Anyway, more tomorrow, in the meantime, I will continue trying to set this machine up...
