Bad... bad bad Doug.
Backup, dammit!
I actually do have a backup, but I don't want to use it, since it's too old to do me much good. So I am trying to restore the system without using it.
After I wrote yesterday, and before I uploaded, things slowed down and slowed down and eventually stopped. Blue screen... and no re-boot. Just sat there.
So I booted in safe mode... there were some *.TMP files where there should be none, in the windows directory. I think that I downloaded and ran some sort of virus. Dumb... I usually check everything that I DL, and I thought that I had, but I guess not. Actually, except for the presence of those *.TMP files, I thought that this was just WIN98 doing it's thing.
Hopefully, I will get it going before I leave for work tonight... I stayed up until after 04:00 working on it last night, then I slept until 15:30 today, so I did, at least, get plenty of sleep.

I finally had to wipe out my WIN98 directory and completely re-install, then turn around and install WIN98SE; I have, however, retained much of what I had, I just need to set all of the programs up again... a pain in the ass, as usual. Although I think that I can re-install the registry and get quite a bit of that back, too...
Amyway, I gotta go to work now. Maybe by the time I get back, the install will be done... slow-ass WIN98, takes an hour to install,,,
