And yesterday was a pretty productive day. Kinda nice, since I wasn't really planning on haviong any productive days...
Tyler got the lawn mowed, and I got most of the sheet rock up over the bar. Now I have to put up a coupla more small pieces and start mudding the damned thing. This will probably be a three-week job before it's ready to paint, since it's a kinda complicated design, with curves and everything...
There's supposed to be a guy coming over to look at the siding situation this morning, we might be able to get that done in the next coupla weeks. I also want to get the guttering re-done, since I didn't do a really pretty job of it originally. Effective, but not pretty.
And I need to pull the pump out of the hot tub and get it cleaned up and going.
And I need to replace some fascia boards on the front of the house and paint them.
And I need to stain the deck and the trim.
And I need to put the lights on the deck... the lights that I bought four years ago, and that are now priced at about half of what I paid for them...
the list goes on, and on, and on...
I was up a coupla times last night, once for about two hours. Hard time sleeping, for some reason. My body is sore from working, for one thing. I don't do actual physical work very often, and when I do, I pay for it. Yeah, I do a lot of physical work at work, but it's different, and I'm used to it. Yesterday I used several whole different sets of muscles, and I could enumerate them, but I won't...
Yesterday afternoon, I got really frustrated with the HD situation, so I spent $30 and got the new version of Partition Magic and downloaded it. Before I went to bed I set it to re-sizing my partitions, since it's very slow doing it. Five hours later it was done, and everything is the way that it's supposed to be now... so I've got one disk with 14+ gigs, and one with 10 gigs. Lots and lots of room now, and finally properly organized... now if I could just get the damned camera card working right... I'd start doing the daily pix again. I kinda miss doing that.
What I'm doing is using the 10+gig disk as a backup, with a backup scheduled once a day... automatic so's I don't forget. So I'll never again lose more than a day's worth of work (if work is what it can be called...) It will take about 30 minutes to back up originally, then probably five each day for the incremental.
The 7200RPM disk is fantastic. I didn't realize how disk-dependent these machines are. Everything is much faster when I'm accessing the C: drive now. Much, much faster. From a cold boot, WIN98 is up in 40 seconds... PS in 15, Word in 10... very nice. Not that I really have a need for so much quickness, y'understand, I just like it.
I'm kinda biding my time here, waiting for the siding guy to call, but it's 10:30 and I really need to get working if I'm going to get anything done today. I just talked to Tyler and he's having trouble sleeping, he told me that he went to bed at 03:00 or thereabouts and still hasn't slept... anyway, it doesn't look like he'll be any help today. He sure was yesterday, though... work sure goes better with two people doing it...
OK, to work, to work...
More tomorrow...
