Another busy night, and pretty confused too. But I survived yet again, and I gladly left at 07:00 with about four patients waiting to be done by the day people. Not feeling guilty at all, at all. They got their money's worth and more already.
I came home and took my pills and left for Cracker Barrel and met the ED people there for breakfast. The service was good and the food was OK and the company excellent. As usual for me in social situations, however, I was trying to be a smart-ass and came off looking like an asshole. I wish that I would quit doing that...
I went several places after that, looking for a HD that was advertised and didn't really exist... a 13-gig Maxtor for $129. I know that I'd seen it in the paper, and Tod from work told me that he'd bought one, but the store people knew absolutely nothing... that was Office Depot. So I figgered that I'd got the place wrong, and went to OfficeMax, where a sincere young guy was trying to help me. I told him that I was looking for a hard drive, and he really wanted to sell me a zip drive. And he didn't understand why I didn't want to buy it, it was such a popular item... he finally got the point, though.
So I came home and got tried to find the paper with the ad in it, but we'd thrown out all of the old papers recently. Tyler and I went back out to Best buy, and they had advertised the same drive for $139, but they were out of them. So I asked them if I could have the 7200RPM Maxtor 13.6-gig drive for the same price, and they wouldn't do that, but they did give me $30 off of the price of the faster drive. What the hell... I did the deal with them. More than I wanted to spend, but then everything is...
The plan was to get the larger drive and put it in my machine and put the WD drive from my machine into the old Compaq that Tyler uses that we lost the HD on the other day. This presented some problems that I've partially solved. I got all of the data transferred to the new drive, but I had to do a drive copy, which left the partitions at the smaller size of the old drive... and the Partition Magic that I bought last year won't work on WIN98. So I bought a larger, faster drive that acts just like the smaller, slower one. Not a bargain by any means...
And I'm too tired to deal with it, so I'm gonna sleep on it. More tomorrow...
