A busy and interesting night... and now there is only one left. I think that I might survive this anyway.
Well, there's never really been any doubt, and I volunteered, and I went into it with my eyes wide open. I just have to remember to never do that again.
The worst part has been everyone telling me how tired I look lately. Well, dammit, I didn't really feel tired until that started happening...
37 degrees here this morning. Damn, I've been waiting all summer for this! Loveit loveit loveit!
I am gonna write some more later, but right now... I'm gonna take a long hot shower and hit the sack.
20:12...
The ED night people are having a social breakfast in the morning, and they've invited me... I usually avoid such things, but this one I'm kinda looking forward to... most of my favorite people will be there.
One of the interesting patients that I had last night was a junior high school kid who'd been playing football. He'd had a full bladder, and was hit in the stomach very hard with a helmet. Grossly bloody urine... we did a cystogram on him and saw nothing interesting, but then did a CT and found that his bladder had been torn and they took him to surgery. The cystogram didn't show anything because the contrast was diluted by the large amount of fluid in his pelvis. He was a football traditionalist... very stoic for a 14-year-old kid. Someone had taught him that men don't cry, and taught him very well.
The other interesting patient was a 75-year-old guy that I've known for 25 years or so. He's OK, and I'll tell his story sometime soon, since I have to go to work now...
Trouble sleeping again... but I got about six hours, and I'm ready for my last night... no, I'm ready for my week off.
