Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

17:10 Wednesday 8/18/1999

Writing this on Jeff's computer... I'm really used to my split keyboard, and I have to keep looking at the keys. Throws me off.

I got up fairly early, after having gone to sleep about 22:30 last night. Debbie and I had a pleasant conversation while we drank the first pot of coffee... Ric had gone to work at 06:15 and Karen and Jeff were still sleeping.

I woke Karen up a little later, and she'd woke up earlier with a headache and got up and taken one of her magic pills and was waiting for it to work. Pretty soon it did, and she got up about the time Jeff and Debbie were leaving for Jeff's clarinet lesson.

Karen and I ate and showered and got ready for the day... she and Debbie were going shopping, leaving Jeff and I alone... no problem, however... I went back to bed for a nap about noon and slept until 15:00.

We have big plans for tonight... going to a very fancy place to eat, anyway. I'm gonna have to wear long pants... I haven't worn anything but jeans or shorts since the start of summer. It should be fum. Even if it isn't, I'm sure that I can make it through it...

Jeff will be staying at a friend's house tonight, I just got back from taking him over there. He couldn't really remember how to get there, and it was quite a ways, but we made it. Once again, right in the middle of the evening rush...

It's another hot day here in Wichita, somewhere around 100F, I think. It was really pleasant this morning early, but since then I've only been out to smoke the occasional cigarette... what did people do before air conditioning? Well, I guess I should remember, having been there... I remember it as being very unpleasant. Especially the nights. And the days, too. And that damned hot south wind that never quit blowing from Texas, like out of a blast furnace.

Those were the days... come to think of it, I spent quite a bit of time in the public swimming pool a couple of those summers.

Tomorrow I want to get on the road fairly early, but it probably won't happen. I'm looking forward to seeing Mom, it seems like a long time since I've been there.

Debbie and Karen were going to stop and see Betty before they came home, then it'll probably take then an hour or two to get ready to go... I think the reservations are for 20:00, so that should work out about right. And right now, I've got to finish writing my anniversary poem to Karen...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
