Natterings, Notions

Notes

And another short night/long day. Damn, I really get more sleep when I'm working that when I'm not.

But I did get some stuff done today, computer-wise. Figgered out what was the matter with Karen's machine, anyway... the C: drive was going out. Well, I didn't really figger it out until it actually went out...

So I had to go through the fearsome task of taking it out and leaving the big one in and installing a MBR or RBM or something on it... whatever it is... to make it bootable. I wanted to do this without having to format the damned thing, and I managed to, just barely. I was almost to the point of saying t'hell with it when I stumbled across the secret... again... since I'd not learned my lessons very well the first time around, I guess.

Got that done, and got the damned thing running, but I couldn't get the internet sharing to work. Screwed around with it for quite a while, then I finally went to the main machine and checked it.

Yep, some way or another I'd removed the internet sharing from the main machine. I sure can't remember doing it, but there it was... gone.

But everything is going well now... well, kinda.

I'm using Tyler's HP monitor for Karen's machine, and it's going out. Tyler is using the monitor that I brought back from Moms in March... because it was going out. Well, it's pretty well gone now. Hard to make out even in a dark room...

Luckily, fifteen-inch monitors are getting pretty cheap, so I need to save up and get a couple. In the meantime, this 17-incher on mine is 2+ years old, so I've got my fingers crossed...

Back to my rants earlier this week, about the school board... the Governor wants to get rid of the school board altogether, and there are a lot of people that agree with him. It's been tried several times in the past and almost succeeded, only this time there's the impetus that they're imbeciles and they reflect poorly on the rest of us. It will require a constitutional amendment, but they've made it a lot more likely with their stupidity. The board is composed of ten elected people who are not really representative of population, but of geography. Not a good deal... under normal representative circumstances, they would be voted out, but in this case they're likely to be re-elected next round.

On the same subject, somewhat, I mentioned that logic was religion's weak point... brother Jon pointed out that emotion was logic's weak point. And that if someone could come up with an emotional reason for being logical, that person would be a hero. Most likely a martyr, too, I might add. O'wait, he added that too... well, I'm trying to have an original thought here. My heart is in the right place.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, very little sleep last night. I hope to do better tonight, and I'm gonna get started much earlier... like right now.

Thanx for being here!
