The girl that I mentioned in yesterday's entry was a hit-and-run victim... she was walking down the side of the road and got her head knocked by this guy's rear-view mirror. He turned himself in later, I heard. And she seems to be doing as well as can be expected...

It has been heavily humid the last coupla days, and it was clouding up as I left work; right now, there's a thunderstorm moving in. Great sound effects.

It seems that this time of the year, around July fourth, we get the last real spring storms... then it dries up until September or October. I hope that pattern breaks this year. A month or two without rain or storms is way too boring.

Now for a sad story:
More than a week ago, a seventeen-year-old boy was pulled out of a local lake after he'd been underwater for eight to ten minutes. He'd been on life support since then, and his parents finally let him go. I'd done a CT on his head Wednesday night, and he looked so much like Tyler that I wanted to cry. His brain, unfortunately, was gone, essentially liquefied.

His dad was with him constantly... I would have to wake him up every morning to take a chest x-ray on the boy. The sorrow was etched on his face even while he was sleeping.

And forever into my memory.

Thanx for being here!
