Well, I actually got up at 23:00 last night, and I stayed up most of the night. Even got some stuff done...

Not nearly as much as I wanted to, but all the same.

I got the computers moved to under the desk after I cleaned out all the junk that was there. An inch of dust and cat hair... well, maybe not an inch, but lots. I still don't have the camera or sound hooked up, though. Need to do that.

I also need to re-install WIN98. Doing some funny stuff. Photoshop locks up. SOme other things lock up. Everything is slowing down. Sometimes I have to wait 3 or 4 minutes for the disks to spin up when it's in standby.

What I really need to do is re-format, but I hate to think of re-installing all of my software and setting it up just so all over again.

The start of my troubles, I believe, was when Patrick and Grandma Karen tried to set up a game on it. I'm still finding pieces of that one throughout my file system... there are probably some that I can't find that are screwing me up.

Network... I don't think that I'm really any closer, in fact, I've lost ground with the Linux. I haven't done much on it for a coupla weeks, and then when I screwed with it, it got worse. I think that I need to start over with that again, too.

I've heard the MS is supposed to be coming out with a revision to their network neighborhood for WIN98 to allow two or more machines to share the same modem. This would be a solution to my immediate needs, but won't help me learn Linux...

Anyway, I was up until about 05:30 this morning, then I slept until about 08:00, then woke up at 10:00, went back to bed at 11:00 and slept until 14:15... been up since then.

About 15:30, I decided to go get the screw gun/drill that I'd mentioned. As I was going down 25th street, here comes Karen going the other way. I turned around and followed her home. She'd had a doctor appointment and left early. So I talked her into going out to the Sears service center with me.

Unfortunately, they'd sold the one that I wanted, so I settled for a slightly less powerful one, still at a good price, and well able to do the work that I'll need to do with it.

We also picked up a universal remote... about the fourth one that I've bought. Hopefully, it will work better than the others have.

On the way back, we stopped by Dairy Queen and got a couple of hot fudge sundaes. Haven't done that in quite a while. Used to be a regular thing, though... but we hadn't lost any weight since we quit. 'Course, I do have one (with yogurt) almost every night that I work. Doesn't the yogurt counteract the hot fudge? I'm sure it does.

Several weeks ago, I got two under-the-desk keyboard trays... five bucks apiece... that I need to mount. I'm not really sure that I'll like them, but they were such a bargain... so I will use my new screw gun to do that.

First night back, after ten nights off. This is the time of the year when it really gets busy normally... people are out hurting themselves and eating bad potato salad at their picnics. And the weather has broke... it's beautiful today, or this afternoon, anyway. It rained a bunch more last night, we probably got another three inches. But there's no water in the basement, and there were no leaks around the skylight either. Maybe, just maybe, the water problems are solved...

I need to do something about the lawn... calling it a lawn is a big stretch of the imagination... the construction company came today on filled in the area between the sidewalk and the street with sod. Looks really nice, dammit. Now Karen (well, me too, kinda) wants to put sod all over our yard. Only be a coupla thousand to do that...

More in the morning...

Thanx for being here!
