Well, I was neither psychologically nor physically prepared to go back to work last night. But I came out OK headwise, but my body feels like it does at the end of a week on, not like the beginning.
Yup, I got my ass kicked. Ran from 20:45 until 03:00, had a little break and got some paperwork done, then got my ass kicked yet again.
A big part of the problem was that my Traumex room was again down. Not the unit itself, but the imaging capacity... the connectivity with the machine in the ER and the printer. A relatively simple network problem, but the guy that was supposed to fix it didn't want to drive from KC in the rain.
He brought in cheap donuts this morning and withstood the most scathing look I've ever given anybody in my life. I was really disappointed, so I cussed him out a little bit too.
He remained relatively cheerful.
Bastard.
Anyway, the ER nurses were pretty nice to me, bringing over almost every patient. They were pretty well staffed, and they didn't really have too many patients. It's just that I had to x-ray every damned one of them, and not just simple little x-ray, either... I did five CTs, one on a senile dementia patient. No fun at all, was that one.
On a lighter note, my mother said that she would also be amused at seeing woodpeckers sitting on my deck smoking, referring to yesterday's entry. I'm glad that I didn't mention what the robins do...
The poor woodpeckers, though... their mates won't let them smoke in their holes. And the filters tend to get stuck on their bills. There are still some woodpeckers around that smoke unfiltered, but you don't want to mess with them...
And the ones that chew tobacco are almost as bad as those that eat mulberries...
Enough about birds, I want to talk about cats. I like cats, although I could never eat
Getting very tired and goofy is one of my main psychological releases, I think. Some people are able to drink or dope, but I don't need to. Just work my ass off, and amazing things happen inside my head. I start having illusions of comedic genius, just like I used to have those earth-changing answers when I would smoke dope... I never inhaled, of course. Nor did I ever remember how, afterwards, to change the world. Just as I now cannot remember anything funny after about a day.
Well, I was thinking about getting some work done on the kitchen, but I think that I'll just go to bed instead...
a whole one at one sitting... Do you like cats too? We could exchange recipes..
