Another really beautiful day weather-wise, and in many other way too.

Prefaced with yet another lousy night's sleep. Don't know what to do about that... I got to sleep about 03:00 and got up at 08:00... saw that it was wonderful and all that and decided not to go back to sleep.

And I've been up all day... no naps!

And I don't know where the day has gone. It's damned near midnight now...

We did get some work done on the kitchen, though. I took the cooktop out of the countertop and pulled the old countertop off and then decided to measure the damned thing... and it was deeper than a normal countertop by about three inches. Enough to make it not work, anyway.

so... put it back together again.

Making progress on the Linux front, though, finally. I've got the thing working where I can see that the Linus box is connected to the WIN98 box, but... the WIN side says that I need a password to access the Linux box, and the password that I set doesn't work, which I can't figger out.

But I've been working and working and working on it. I even asked for help on the Red Hat mailing list. O'yeah, and I went out and bought the latest version of RedHat, 5.2, hoping that it would solve all of my problems. And, right on schedule, it solved some of them... and created others. Y' just can't win, and they don't tell you the rules and they keep changing them anyway.

But back to the RedHat mailing list... I asked what I thought was a simple question and I haven't got an answer yet in six hours... but there's all kinds of traffic there, and I know that my message got through. So there are two possibilities...

Either of these choices is unlikely, though... most people are not afraid to flame me. And there are some pretty smart people on the list. So I don't know what to think.

Well, damn, it's 01:30 and I'm still sitting here eating peeps (Karen went to Target today... got six packages... they were on sale... they're almost gone...) and wracking my brain. Or maybe whacking it would be a more appropriate phrase... whacking it against a fence post. Which reminds me, speaking of Linux... if you don't have fences, you don't need (Bill) Gates...

Enough. More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
