Today is Lacee's sixth birthday! She spent the night with Karen, and they will be having a party today somewhere, Chuckee Cheeses, I think. Thankfully, I get to stay home and sleep this year. I was off last year and I was forced to attend the celebration... I bowed out early, though.

Rough night last night, up until about 02:00, anyway, when things calmed down to a steady roar. I missed the excitement... the cardiac surgeon cracked a chest in the ER; we'd just done a CT on the patient's chest and he had a thoracic aneurysm. He was sitting in out waiting room when he started going downhill alarmingly. After they got his heart going again, the aneurysm literally exploded.

I've never seen them crack a chest, although I know of four times that it's been done here... one of the patients actually lived. Cracking a chest is a heroic measure, and, as such, often fails. Not because of the procedure, but because of the condition that brought them there in the first place. Dead man's disease.

So anyways, I'm dragging this morning, I think that I'll hit the sack early. Karen and Lacee are going over to Lawrence to pick up Brian for the party if Karen can get Lacee out of bed... and I can't go to bed until they're gone, or at least out of the bedroom.

It seems that I had a lot more to say today, but I guess that it'll wait, since I can't think of it right now...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
