Finally! A really productive day!
Although I didn't get up until about 11:00...
I was up until about 00:30 last night, and it was just barely starting to snow then. The grandkids had moved from the sofa to the floor and had fallen asleep watching the cartoon channel... I covered them up before I went to bed.
Karen said that they slept until 08:30 or so... Steve came to get them about 11:30, and I got JD and Tyler up then. JD had been to a concert at the Bottleneck in Lawrence last night, and he didn't get home until about 05:00... Tyler had gone out, but came home and went to bed around midnight. Strange behavior for him.
Anyway, Karen and I conspired to make breakfast and then we started texturing the ceiling. It didn't go quite as planned... we ended up using brooms, but the effect is really nice.
Then we painted the walls... the color is really perfect for the room... kinda peachy or something like that. Apricot dust...dusk... hell, I dunno.
Then we cut and mounted the 2X4s that we're using as a base for the trim... well, it's hard to describe what it is, but it'll look cool, I think. Then we started painting the 2X4s with a complimentary color that looked just like the wall paint almost. Well, damn. We thought that it would look darker, but it didn't.
So Karen and I headed out to Lowes, and got some paint that is essentially brown, although it's got another name...ROOT BEER it says on the can. Well, OK, then, it's root beer.
We didn't get started on that yet, though, we'll get it done tomorrow. We also got the ceiling paint, which will also go on tomorrow. And probably some other stuff will get done, too, although I'm not sure what. Maybe we'll go see a movie or something like that... something fun.
After supper and the cleanup, we watched a little TV, then I went out to Best Buy to get a mouse for the server ... and BB was closed, so I went across to Wal-Mart. They had really cheap mice and really expensive mice... all PS/2 except for one, and they wanted more for that one than I wanted to pay. So I left there and noticed the Barnes and Noble, so I stopped in there to look for a Linux book.
I haven't bought many computer books, and now I remember why. They wanted $50.00 for a Linux networking book, and $40.00 for just a general guide. I looked through the general guide and didn't see anything that I hadn't seen already... I put it down and came back home. I'll find what I need on the web, thank you.
More tomorrow...
Anyway, Karen fixed us a great Mexican meal, but she used chicken instead of beef for the meat... I just can't get into mexican when it's chicken. Gotta be beef. But hey, I ate it anyway... I was right hungry, and both of the boys did well by themselves too. Karen and I cleaned up the kitchen after we ate... we do real well working together, and we've finally got a big enough kitchen where we can both work!
