It was another beautiful day in Topeka, could've been a little warmer, but hell, it's only the first of March.
We (collectively, all four of us) got a lot done today. JD did the work on the sheet-rock (Which he hates about as much as I do) Tyler did the outside, Karen dealt with the piles of stuff in our bedroom, and I... well, I mostly supervised.
Actually, I got a lot done too... I tore down the lean-to that I had built on the shed some years ago for Doggie... it has housed a number of (very good scrap) boards for the last coupla years... but the roofs' back was broken from having kids (well, grown men, but kids, nonetheless) jumping onto it.
However, the boards are still there... they just don't have a roof anymore.
We also got the side yard cleaned up, and Tyler mulched all of the leaves and then
And I've been trying to network Tylers' 486, once again without much luck. It's a PB (Which might explain a lot of things) with a 485 MB hard disk... which is now uncompressing... and has been for the last four hours. Before that, I defragged it... for two hours. It would've bee so much easier to have just re-formatted the damned thing but no, I decided to go by the book. Damned book, anyway.
He'd had the memory upgraded a coupla years ago... from 8 MB to 24, and the machine hasn't really worked right since then. He'd never reformatted the drive, either, which is way unusual for a 4-year old PB... but anyway, I put some more memory in, I'd just got 32MB for that other old machine... but the PB didn't like it... it needed so S-L-O-W memory... I finally got it up to 32 MB, but the video driver eats up eight of those...
So I did a search on PackardBell Force 54CD... and I found that most of the hits were about... people sueing PB about something or another. Heh... imagine that.
The boys and I were hanging a door this evening between the laundry room (the old kitchen) and the new kitchen and when we were about half-way done Karen decided that she didn't like it, so we took it down. It was the old door between the house and the garage... We'll go out tomorrow and look for another door to go there. Our plan is to open up the cat door from the laundry room to the outside and keep the cats out of the house... that would really be nice. Will be.
And we are all pleasantly exhausted from the days' work, and I'm ready to hit the sack... it's 23:30 already! More work adventures tomorrow, then my birthday Saturday... no, I probably won't get the day off from working around here...
went over the yard again with the bagger, so the dreaded fall chore is done... at least in the front and side yards. The back yard will wait.
