This will be a many-parter-day, since I plan to be actually working(!) on the kitchen and checking here frequently for email about the computer I bought last night on eBay. Yes, it was a relative cheapie... a 300 K2 bare-bones system with 128K and a real modem (I just found out how winmodems work... what a rip!)

And now, for a

NEW FEATURE!

Announcing
(drum roll)
R.D.J.!
(Really Dumb Jokes)
(Not to be confused with DJR, the esteemed departed journal)

First... what do you give a snake with allergies?

An anti-HISS-tamine....

OK, there was this female snake. She'd already had lots of offspring; she was tired of reproducing. She couldn't swallow pills, so she had...
a HISS-tor-ect-omy!

Boo! Hiss! (brought to you by JD and Tyler)

I went to bed last night long after Karen did... she was not feeling well, she went to bed early. I went to bed really late, 03:00 or something like that.

I always feel around to see what position Karen is in when I come to bed... generally she is on her back, hands folded across her chest, funeral-style. I generally touch her, just to let her know that I'm there, and tell her that I love her, then I attempt to go to sleep.

Sometimes, though, she's on her side, mostly facing away from me. These are the times that I love... I gently slide up next to her, put my right arm under the pillow that her head is on, and wrap my left arm around her soft warm bosom. I can almost go to sleep in this position, but I never do... I'm afraid of waking her completely up. So I pull away, turn on my left side and listen to the wisdom of the white-noise maker.

One additional benefit of Karen sleeping on her side... She Doesn't Snore That Way!

Yes, she does snore when she lays on her back. Yeah, I do too... but my snoring doesn't keep me awake, and hers does. Not for long, usually... but I'm conscious of it.

I have been awake too long, with too little sleep in-between... I'm starting to ramble, I feel incoherent. Last night, I was in the basement with JD and Tyler, trying to get his computer to access the internet through my computer (which I never could do, any help out there?) and we started getting goofy... or I did anyway. I'm getting that way again... I want to write about the... thing... made of walnut by my deceased father-in-law... and how it reminds me of him, and the soul that he was trying to express while maintaining his gruff personality. It's too big to put on the scanner, I'll turn the camera on it later.

Enough for now. Time for a nap... it's 12:41. More later...

13:52...
So... what is the thing that is least conducive to taking an afternoon nap?

If your answer was..."discovering that a cat has had diarrhea all over your bed" you win the prize!

Sam was in the bedroom... Karen said that he was out all night, he just needed to sleep away from the other cats... so I left him in there. Bad move... I should've thrown him back out again. No, I was too soft-hearted... and it was raining. I won't make that mistake again...

20:21...
I stayed awake throughout the afternoon, washing all of the clothes in the house and, of course, the bedspread and sheets off of our bed.

JD and I talked about what to do in the kitchen and he came up with some good ideas... which I'm gonna let him implement, mostly. Gotta use him! Ty, too, of course... when we can get him outta bed...

Karen and I went out to eat at Casa again, this time with Kim, we had a really good time, and I didn't eat too much... I ordered from the "small appetite" menu. Last time we were there I got way too much and I damned near ate it all. Yes, I can learn...

We sat around and talked for a while after we got back, continuing the fun conversation... I loosen up a lot when I get really tired, like most people get when they drink...

After Kim left, I checked my email, and there was a message from someone I don't know, a female, that said simply, "You're a damn good poet." Gave me the warm fuzzies. I need that every little once-in-a-while. Of course, not knowing who it is, I have to take it with a grain of salt, but that's OK too.

Thanx for being here!
