I had a pretty boring but strenuous trip down here... the wind was blowing at 25-35MPH and trying to blow the little red truck off of the road. My mileage was probably pretty low... I couldn't hardly get up to 70MPH against the wind.

I'd started off with a tarp covering the stuff in the truck bed... the computer boxes... but that didn't work very well with the wind being what it was, so I stopped at the first rest stop and took it off. Hopefully, I won't need it going back. I've lost all of my tie-downs but one, and one isn't enough to hold it on.

I got the e-machine set up forthwith... pretty simple little machine. Then... AOL. Easy to set up. Hard to stay connected. I don't know if it's the lines here in Enid, or maybe, just maybe... their reputation is well-earned. Unfortunately, it seems to be the only game in town, at least for mom.

We went to Wal-mart to get her a desk lamp, we got a fluorescent goose-neck type, works really well. I set up the printer when we got home. She didn't like the ink-jet one that I got her last year, so I brought back the old Panasonic DMP. We printed the test page when we set it up, and there was no ink left in the ribbon... I hope that those ribbons are still available somewhere locally.

It sure is good to see Mom... it's been six months or so since I was down here. She seems to get shorter every time I see her, though. Her energy level is still way up there, she acts 20 or 30 years younger than she is.

We stayed up way too late last night, and then I had a helluva time getting to sleep... the wind was still blowing, shaking the windows irregularly.

Then... I got up way too early, 07:30. It's supposed to get ugly here weather-wise later in the day... this was originally scheduled for last night, but it didn't happen. Right now, the clouds are moving in, the north is a slate-gray, boding ill.

I'm able to use AOL to FTP, but, once again, the damned thing won't stay connected for more than about 20 seconds. I'll probably just do the main page daily, then do the archives when I get back home.

Gonna have a kinda busy day today, plus I'm sure that Mom has her list for me somewhere... she usually does!

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
