Today was sacrificed to the Internal Revenue Service.
Yep, they got all of the day... I started about 08:30 and it's 14:30 now... but my head has been emptied.
The day is done.
No more work... I'll have to find something to play with.
This is the earliest that I have ever filed my taxes. And I really feel good about it. And we are getting a little bit back from both the feds and the state.
Electronic filing... the only way to go. Direct deposit of the excess funds... they should be there in a week or so, according to Intuit, anyway.
Back to the taxes... I realize that having them done so early will generate a lot of hate mail, but what the hell, let 'er rip! I can handle it.
Karen and I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to remember what a check was that was written to Best Buy... and we didn't buy anything out there on that date. But then I figgered out that the check was written to BB but... it was to Sam's, where we did buy stuff that day. Karen says that they must've just changed the name on hte check, since we didn't hear any more about it, and we could find no evidence of writing a check to Sam's for the stuff that we bought there...
And yes, I've started using Quicken again. Taxes this year were much more difficult without having those reconds on disk. I'd rather not have to go through all of the papers again next year...
OK, time for some recreation... or maybe some journal-reading. O'wait, that's recreation, isn't it?
When Karen and I got back yesterday, we couldn't find the gray cat, which she and Lacee named Sam. And he still isn't around. My greatest fear is that the other cats have killed him and his body is under the kitchen floor... in the now-inaccessible crawl space. I have no idea what I'll do if that's the case...
