Well, crap, I thought... the cops have beaten the hell out of some drunk sonovabitch and now I've gotta x-ray the sodden bastard.
But no!
It was a beaten-up cop that I got to x-ray, and he wasn't too beaten up. And he shot the guy that beat him up... and the guy went to the other hospital! He will, I've heard through the grapevine, live to rue this day.
The low point was, again, the period from 5:00 until 07:00, when I got behind four hours again. Busy, busy, expected to be in several places at the same time, got cussed out for not doing a STAT that they didn't contact me about...
I got to leave about 07:30, though, and I was thoroughly dragged out by then. But the realization that I have a week off brightened my spirits.
We have a girl that's worked at the front desk as a receptionist for about 20 years, and she is transferring to another department. Today is her last day, so there was a lot of food involved.
I had the doc's appointment (the one that I cancelled two weeks ago) today; he thought that my knee was probably going to be OK, but he'll see me again in two months, according to the work comp rules. And I got a work release... full duty again. The "light duty" was a joke, of course; there's no such thing on third shift... but the powers that be wanted the paperwork done.
To return to the point, the doc's office is next to the hospital, so I went back to the department and got some more food and said a final goodbye to Nancy. I see her more than I do most of the other day people, so I will miss her... plus she was a good friend to me when I did work days. I wish her luck.
O'yeah, before I forget...
I'm planning on getting a whole bunch done this week, especially since I'm still feeling so good. And there is no lack of work that needs doing...
And I really need to get down to see my mom, it was last summer when I last visited her, I think. Maybe in two weeks...
More tomorrow....
Happy Birthday, Brother Dan!!!
Karen is going to Wichita and she wants me to go with her, and I kinda want to go, but I want to get so much done here... and I can't do everything... Anyway, Karen's mom is moving back into her original nursing home that she had to evecuate when it flooded down there, so Karen will be a big help, but I probably wouldn't, I'm afraid. So I'll most likely beg off.
