Journal Entry
A wasted day.
Well, not really. Let's just say that I rested. Yeah, that's it. I rested.
I did sleep half of the day yesterday, and then I didn't sleep very well last night. I wound up getting up about 04:00 and doing various picayune things, like drinking two pots of coffee.
I had a dentist appointment at 08:00; Karen drove the truck to work, but Tyler was home and he would drive me there. About 07:30 I decided that I was hungry and had a bowl of Grape nuts... and broke another tooth.
This was not a good deal at all. It wasn't painful, but I figgered that it would need a crown... and we have to pay half for those. Another $250 down the drain, dammit.
The reason I had to see the dentist originally was because the temporary crown that I had put in a coupla weeks ago was disintegrating. I had been able to keep it pretty much together with a screwdriver and by eating very carefully... but it had some sharp places on it and bothered me a lot.
And my regular dentist was out of town... went to Comdex in Las Vegas... and his partner took care of the temporary crown and fixed the broken tooth too. He was going to put in a temp filling and let my
regular guy fix it next week, but he decided that it would take him fifteen minutes to put in a temporary filling and seventeen minutes to do it permanently. Kind of a no-brainer. Anyway, I was out of there in 30 minutes, really happy that I didn't have to get yet another crown.
We came home and putzed around for a while, then realized that we were hungry and went out to get some breakfast, figgering that we would work better with full stomachs.
Then we decided to go looking at some cars to replace the caddy; I talked to a girl that used to work at the hospital who now works for a dealership here and she'll keep an eye out for something that she thinks we'll want.
I really hate trading vehicles. Hate it hate it hate it. We always get screwed, whether it's buying or selling. Hell, we get screwed sitting still.
Anyhoo, when we got home we sat down and watched Starr for a while, then I started feeling really tired, so I decided to take a nap. Tyler had a message on the machine, he needs to go in to work tonight and most of the weekend. He's enjoying working at Jimmy Johns, which is a Sub shop, not a pizza place that I said in a previous entry. He still gets lost in Lawrence, though, he says... he thinks that he needs to go down there and drive around in the daytime to get a better idea of the town. Since food delivery tips usually depend of timeliness, it would be a lot better if he didn't get lost so much...
I got up from my nap about 18:45, and there's nobody home... I really feel like going back to bed, and I just might do that...
More tomorrow.
