Journal Entry
Finally... a halfway decent night... well, up until now, at least.
Karen and Kim went to KC last Friday on their annual "Kims' Birthday Excursion" and the Caddy stopped on them before they made it to Lawrence. Karen said that the overheating light came on before it stopped.... she called Jacinda's husband, who lives in Lawrence, and he came out and looked at it. It seems that the radiator cap wasn't secured, and all of the coolant was gone.
She'd had the car at the service station on Tuesday, and they had said that the radiator needed to be flushed, so they had taken the cap off and not put it back on properly. Unfortunately, they are denying responsibility, according to Karen. The engine is most likely ruined or at least the head gasket is warped... either way, it will cost more to fix than the car is worth.
So... we're down to one vehicle, and we might have to get a lawyer. I'm going in to talk to the service station guy tomorrow, I'll know more then.
I've been out several times tonight, looking for meteors; there were none. This is partially explained by the fact that it's partly cloudy, so that the smaller ones wouldn't be visible... but mostly due to my meteor-shower/storm luck. Either it's cloudy or I'm busier than hell whenever we have a show, and it doesn't matter where I'm at.
I did something pretty stupid... I left my 3.5-inch disk (the one that I use for doing entries when I'm at work) in the NT machine at work the other night, thinking that I'd get a chance to write an entry... then I forgot about it. When I came in tonight, all of the files on the disk were opened up... somebody had fun reading them! None of them were work-related or in any way incriminating, though, and everything has already been published here... it's just kinda freaky knowing that someone at work knows a few of my inner-most thoughts. Actually, not freaky, but kind of thrilling, come to think of it...
I think that when I get off today I will go home and sleep until tomorrow morning. I've had to work way too hard this week, and I'm really feeling it. 24 hours of sleep should do the trick...
Later at home...
O'wait! No night is really complete without an asshole. This was a very complete night...
I went in and talked to the guy who owns the station, and he convinced me that it wasn't their fault. On the other hand, for four or five thousand dollars, I could be very convincing too...
But he thinks that he can get it running well enough to trade, and I'm hoping that he's right. The problem is, we got no money right now... just like always. And that's getting right tiresome, too.
I still haven't decided if I'll stay up or go to bed. It's gonna be a beautiful day, and tomorrow is going to be pretty crappy, sez the weatherman... and right now I don't really feel that tired. I'll probably go a coupla hours and crash, but I'm gonna try it anyway.
More later... or tomorrow, anyway...
