I got an early start again today... up at 04:00 again, dammit! Piddled around, got some piddly work done, went to my mandatory meeting. It was interesting, but not very.
I made three serious attempts today to quit smoking, with the best go lasting three hours. I threw away 3 packs of cigarettes and two lighters.
And I am now sporting a goatee... the comb fell out of the clippers last night while I was trimming the beard, making me look really funny. Not that the goatee doesn't look funny, too, but it at least looks intentional.
I was amazed that Karen didn't notice last night, and neither did anyone at the hospital, nor did Tyler. Bummer for my ego when nobody notices when I change my face...
Tyler and I got some work done... I woke him up about 10:00. We hit a rough place and I said the hell with it, let's take the day off and watch some movies. Pat at work had loaned me some SF classics before my three weeks off, and I hadn't got around to watching them yet.
We started off trying to watch The Stand, but the sound quality was really lousy on the VCR, so we cleaned the VCR heads and didn't improve anything at all. Put in Farenheit 451 and it played perfectly, so we watched that.
We got a little more work done after the movie was over, but not much. And Tyler had to go to work tonight in Lawrence, I think that he'll be working most of the next week.
I'm really discouraged on the kitchen project. Everything is taking so damned long... we did so well for so long, now it seems like pulling teeth to get anything done... constant complications.
And, since I was up so early this AM, I'm really dragging tonight again. I might as well work on getting turned around, since I only have one more night off after tonight...
