Journal Entry

Today...
I have no more teen-aged kids.

Yep. Tyler turned 20 years old today.

So I let him sleep in. That was really easy, since that's what I did.

I got up about 07:30 and drank a pot of (decaffinated) coffee, read the paper and went back to bed. Slept until about 13:00. Tyler said that he had just gotten up.

Then he got a phone call from his mother, and he talked to her for almost two hours, he said.

After that, we started working. We framed in the window opening for the north side of the house, then we cut it out. Steel siding is hard to cut and pretty dangous, too. Especially since I had to make the top cut while contorting on the ladder with the saw horizontal and the blade guard pulled back.

Then we sat the window in and we were lining it up when Karen came home. So we decided to knock off for the night and go celebrate Tyler's birthday.

We went to the Outback; I had a pretty good steak, Karen had the ceasar salad and Tyler had ribs. Good food, fair service. We had a nice time, though.

Came home and watched the football game, enjoying seeing the Jets beat up on the Pats.

And I had a horrible thought... I thought that my three weeks was up and I had to go back to work Wednesday night. Luckily, I was wrong.

It scared me, though.

I'm really enjoying not working. These last ten days have been very relaxing, and I'm enjoying working with Tyler and getting stuff done. This is so much different than taking x-rays... I can actually see what's being accomplished.

However, it's also hard physical work... it would wear me down after a while. That, plus the fact that we've only worked five or six-hour days... jeez, I lost that train of thought, didn't I...

Hell, I'm having fun. That's what I'm trying to say.

There. That was easy and understandable and terse.

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
