Just under the line...
And this was another fine Kansas day... wasted again.
My cold is persisting, making me feel like a slug that doesn't even want to move at even a slug-like pace. Sleep.
Sleep is my refuge. In my dreams, at least, I don't cough and my face doesn't hurt, my nose doesn't run and my head isn't fuzzy. I still don't get anything done, though...
I only got about two hours of sleep Saturday night. I went to bed about 02:00, but I kept coughing so I got up, not wanting to awaken Karen. Drew and Brian were here sleeping on the couch, so I couldn't watch TV, not that I really wanted to. I finally got to sleep around 05:00, and the kids got up around 07:00 and I woke up when they did.
Spent the morning reading the paper and semi-dozing in the recliner. The Chiefs game was on at noon, and Karen took Brian back to Lawrence about 10:30, but she wasn't back for the kickoff. Karen is a chiefs fan, she gets pretty enthusiastic about their games. However, by the time she got back, they were down 24-0 and she didn't feel like cheering very much. She decided to make some chili con cueso, and while she was in the kitchen, Tyler and I decided to switch allegiance... we were tired of not being able to cheer... and we started cheering for the Patriots. This confused Karen momentarily, but she soon got into the spirit.
So, somewhere in the third quarter, with the chiefs behind 40-10, I decided the hell with the chiefs, the hell with this day in general, I was going to get some sleep. I went to bed.
The next thing I knew, Karen was coming to bed and the clock said 11:11... and I didn't feel like sleeping any more. And I remembered that I hadn't done an entry, so I got up... and here I am.
Tyler is in the front room, watching the X-files with the sound turned down very, very low, and I think that I'll go join him.
More tomorrow...
