Journal Entry
Last night... last night I received the payback for the two preceding nights, when I basically sat on my butt and did diddly.
Last night was run, run, run... and when I wasn't running, I was cleaning blood off of my floors and equipment. Yes, it was that bad.
And, as usual, we saved the bad guys. Damndamndamn, I wish that it didn't work out that way so often. We hardly ever get to save any good guys... the bad guys just kill them outright. If there are, indeed, any good guys out there at all. That's something I'm beginning to doubt.
Topeka last night, by my count: One murder, three knifings, three assaults. Those are just the ones that I heard about, not counting the minor stuff. Not much for a big city, but too damned much for Topeka.
And I learned a new expression... "When the Eagle Flies". This means when government checks are delivered... and it's party time. When someone asks someone else if the eagle dropped anything on them, you'll know what they mean now. Or I will, anyway...
Tired. Not used to running lately. Not used to working so hard. But it was still enjoyable, in a way. Exciting is probably a better word. Adrenalin is a wonderful drug, it makes me forget how tired I am until I sit down, like right now. I wish the bed were a lot closer...
More tomorrow...
