Journal Entry

Not a good day. Lousy nights' sleep, still feel tired. Coming down with a cold; runny nose, cough. Tried getting some work done anyway. Hot, humid out. I could work about 15 minutes, then rest 30. Not very efficient.

Tyler was out most of the night, he got home about 11:00 or so. Didn't get any work out of him, he's still sacked out.

I'm discouraged. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm up to doing this kitchen project, especially with the way I'm feeling right now.

And we don't really even have the design locked in or anything yet. We still have to make all of the hard decisions... cabinets, countertops, gadgets... and I did figger out that we need to get 200 AMP electrical service, which will probably be another $5-600 at the very least. But our little 100 AMP box is way overloaded as it is...

I went out to Lowes today to check on some more prices and get some more brochures. We've pretty much decided to go with Lowes for just about everything that we need... they're pretty close, and their prices are pretty much in line with everyone else, and a lot cheaper than some places around here.

One of the main things that I want is a grille/cooktop. When I looked at the one at Lowes the first time I was out there, I saw a $439 price tag on it and I thought that was pretty good. But when I was out there today, I paid a little more attention to it... that was just for the basic unit. The burners were an extra $295, the grille an extra $125, etc. etc.... so instead of $500 or so, it's more like $800-900. Discouraging.

This is going to be a lot less affordable that I had originally planned.

Karen got home and I couldn't kiss her because of my cold. She told me that quite a few people at BC/BS were out sick today or went home early. But misery doesn't like company... I don't feel any better at all knowing that I'm not the only one.

And now my throat is starting to get sore. I think I'll go to Walgreens and get some patent nostrums...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
