Tyler got here about 12:30 yesterday, surprising the hell out of me. After visiting for a while and unloading his truck, I put him right to work.
Steve and his wife Mary came over last night for dinner and we had a nice time. We had some salmon that Karen had bought at Sams and frozen... I'd never grilled salmon before, and it took it a little longer than I thought it was going to.
Our grill is just about shot... it has a window that keeps falling out whenever the lid is raised. The little tabs that hold it on are burned off, they're made of some sort of easily bendable metal that seems to crumble after multiple exposures to heat. This is a grill, dammit, heat is it's life! Another example of shoddy American workmanship. Or maybe Asian workmanship, you never can tell anymore...
Unfortunately, as time wore on, it was pretty obvious that I was tired as dirt, and Steve and Mary bade us goodby and I immediately went to bed. I slept from about 21:30 until 08:00 this morning, waking to a really terrific thunderstorm. It rained for a while, then cleared up.
70 miles away, though, at Arrowhead Stadium, it rained heavily throughout their game with the Chargers. The sun broke out with about three minutes to go in the game, and it was greeted with the loudest of cheers from the sodden fans. KC won this one, mostly because of Charger mistakes.
And, after the game was over, I took a nap of four hours duration. I should be caught up on my sleep now, anyway... Tyler is off to Lawrence with Chris, his local bad influence. We'll get to work on stuff tomorrow, starting with the dismantling of the interior of the garage...
