Nilknarf Journal

Journal Entry

Thursday, 17 September, 1998 08:14

This is Nilknarf Journals 900th day. Whee-hoo!

And I'm still wondering if I should be mad at The Gus (look it up yourself) for passing within two miles of me and not even saying hi.

I guess I won't.

Yesterday was a terrible day for sleeping... I tossed/turned until about 15:30 before I got to sleep, and the alarm went off at 19:30. Made up for the day before, I guess.

Last night was a lark, kinda. It was really busy when I got there, one of the new techs and one of the slightly-used tech were there and they were swamped. The file clerk had hurt her finger and had to go to the ED, and all of the paperwork was way way behind.

Anyhoo, it stayed busy until about 22:30 and then the silence descended. I sent everyone home and started on the paperwork.

I just had a coupla patients between 22:30 and 24:00, and after that only one CT head from the ED. Amazingly quiet night. I was able to get all of the paperwork cleaned up and films hung and everything.

And I got a really nice backrub from Lisa in the ED. Good hands. Small hands, but good nonetheless. And lotsa stamina.

I didn't mention yesterday that I had gotten a warning ticket going to work Tuesday night... for no brake lights. It's been a long time since a cop pulled me over, I couldn't figger out what those lights were doing behind me. I knew I'd been behaving myself (because I always behave myself!) 980917.jpgand I got confused waiting for the cop to come up to the car. What had I done? Speeding? Did I run a red light? Participate in a hit-and-run? I really couldn't remember anything since I'd left the house... cruising along on auto-pilot, I guess.

So I was relieved to only get a warning. When I got home yesterday morning, I checked the fuses... they were OK. Before I went to work last night, I pulled apart the tail-light and checked the bulbs... all OK. Gotta be the switch, then. I decided to give up, and drove it on in to work last night, then took it to the Conoco station this morning and walked on home. I'll pick it up tonight and pay for it tomorrow.

So I think that I'll go make up some of that sleep deficit now. More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
