Journal Entry
Well, crap.
No, that was yesterday's opening; today's is
Well, fuck.
Yeah, that fits a lot better.
After finally getting to sleep yesterday, I woke up at 19:30 when the alarm went off. I came down and checked email, then went back upstairs to get something to eat and to take a shower. Kim was in the kitchen, and I asked her how she was. She said something to the effect of "I've been better" and I said I was sorry and moved on... there was something in the tone of her voice...
Then Karen told me that I was in big big trouble. It seems that what I wrote yesterday was not for publication, even though she had told me about it, because all of the principals had not been notified, as it were. Well, they are now... I have mentioned that Bob reads this journal, and I am really sorry that this came to him in such a fashion. That should not have happened.
You may be wondering, "What part of it shouldn't have happened?" I'll leave you wondering...
A note on this whole situation: If anyone wants my opinion, they can ask. If they don't want my opinion, it may still wind up here anyway. If they think that my opinion is wrong, they can talk to me about it. If they are trying to deceive someone, the best bet is to not let me know anything about it at all... because I generally disapprove of deception. That is an opinion, and it might show up here.
But I am sorry that Bob had to read it here. I would not have put it here if I would have known the situation. I would have wanted to, and it would have been a mighty work of will to keep it quiet, but I wouldn't have written about it.
And it is something that affects my life. I have not been harmed as much as other people, but I have been harmed. And I'm kinda surprised (not really) that I'm the bad guy by writing what I perceive to be the truth...
Enough of this. I'm just about ready to lose control of my keyboard here, so I'll stop.
When I got to work last night, I checked out who the ED doc was, and I was happy. This doc has a rep for being easy on me. I've only had a couple of busy nights when he was on.
But the ambulance services decided to try to set a record. After everyone else working with me had clocked out and gone home, we got six ambulances with eight patients in a 20-minute period.
Yep, every damned one of them needed some x-rays, mostly multiple x-rays.
And this went all. night. long. I had time to smoke three cigarettes and wolf down a cheeseburger in five minutes. The french fries got cold.
And ICU kept calling me for a stat this and a stat that and a stat whatever...
So... I ran my ass off. My legs are damned near too sore to walk on, and I need someone to walk on my back... a cute little oriental girl with no shoes would be nice... that's what I've heard, anyway.
But I'll just go to bed, I guess. No backrubs in the near future for this guy...
