I got another very good nights sleep last night, and I got up when Karen did this morning. I spent the first two hours on the machine, of course, but then I went out and worked some on the yard. Finished mowing the back yard and did some picking up. Got really hot and sweaty and tired.
So... I came back in and did a bunch of stuff, like redesigning my front page and writing a new why article. The old one was... well, old.
And I finally put up a link to The Diary Registry, something that I'd been meaning to do for a month or more.
And another thing... completely breaking my train of thought here... I mentioned a while back that I'd had some insulting email, but I only mentioned one of them. So, before I forget again, I'll mention the other one...
A while back, I wrote a javascript thingie that would let the user choose a web-ring and then choose what s/he wanted to do. I submitted this to several sites, and two of them put it up, but the third one rejected it, saying, "keep trying; maybe you'll come up with something original some day" He said that he had a similar routine already on his site.
So I went to look, and yes, he did have something similar. The difference between the script that was on his site and mine was that I used 12 lines of code plus and additional two for every ring, and the other script had 37 lines of code and needed an additional 10 for each ring. I used a concatenation routine,(of which I'm rather proud) while the other script needed the complete string for each function times each site.
I was going to write the guy back, but decided to let it go. He's probably already had a lot of people tell him that he's an asshole, and he didn't listen to them, why should he listen to me?
So... anyhoo, I also made a new logo-thingie, scrapping the Doug's days and nights title, as I mentioned the other day. It is kinda dull, though, I need to do some more work on it.
Back to the Why article, I'm probably gonna get in some hot water about it, 'cause I say what I like and don't like about online journals. Nono, I don't mention names or anything, don't you know me better 'n that?
Jumping around a bit today...
I acquired some solid wood doors that the hospital was throwing out the other night. Heavy son-of-a-bitches, they are. I cleared some space in the shed and unloaded them this afternoon, and that about wore me out. One of them is going to be a replacement for my desktop, it's a darker-colored wood than the one I'm using now and it's not all scratched up. In fact, it's pretty. So when I move back upstairs... whenever Kim & the grandkids move out... I'll have something nicer to work on. I might even have to get some lumber and make some more shelves and replace the scrap-wood ones I made long, long ago...
And now... it's about time for a nap, I think.
