Journal Entry
Karen and I were awakened by a heavy "THUD" this morning about 05:25; the thud was followed by a long silence.
We got up and Lacee was on the floor; she'd fallen out of bed. When Karen picked her up, she started screaming, and it took a while to get her calmed down.
She wound up with a small hematoma on her head and a really bad attitude. She doesn't wake up well on the best of days...
She and Patrick were sleeping in Kim's bed, since Kim is out of town for a few days... I think that she'll sleep on the wall side of the bed tonight...
My javascript multiple-ring menu is a big hit, I guess. I announced it on diary-l and on ringmasters-l after I put it up yesterday and my hit counter started going off. Gee, maybe someone'll offer me a job writing javascript? Naaaahhh.
It was fun, though. I like doing stuff like that, even though it takes me a long time. Programming, even in such a minor way, has always turned me on. Now that I've got started on javascript, look for more gadgets in the near future.
And yes, I feel sorry for those of you that don't have java-script-enabled browsers. My question is...why not? They're free. O, so your machine doesn't have enough disk space or memory to run them? Just send me your mailing address, and I'll send you some money to upgrade...
Yes, that was meant to be somewhat sarcastic. What I really meant to say was... get a job. O'no, that was both sarcastic and mean. I don't want to be that way. Just sarcastic is usually enough...
I stayed up until 20:30 last night, got up at 05:30... good long sleep, I should be turned around OK now. I'm kinda looking forward to working days, spending my evenings and nights with Karen. Just like real people.
Andy called a few minutes ago, he wanted to borrow my little bass boat for a fishing trip after work. The last time I put the boat up, I put a tarp over it and secured it down pretty well... I thought... but when I went out to look, the straps were loose and the boat was full of water, so it's draining right now, and the battery is charging.
And damn! I've still only been fishing twice this year.
Working on my second pot of coffee, messing with some more javascript stuff. Right now, I know just enough to be dangerous. There are several on-line tutorials, but I really can't seem to get much out of an online tutorial as I can a book. Don't know why that is, or if it's just me and my Luddite brain.
Arrgh! I just found out that the script that I wrote doesn't work with Netscape 3.0. I also checked it with Opera and it doesn't work with that, either. So I'm not done yet with it... it seems that the concantenation doesn't work, all choices lead to ringworld.org... so I've supplied an alternate menu for people.
Andy came by to pick up the boat, and we found that the lights don't work on the trailer... so we hooked up my truck, and half of the lights worked. He went with his truck, because the tail lights on it are more visible than those on my Toyota.
After two weeks of cool weather, we're getting some hot weather again. I'm ready for fall, though, but not winter. I need to do a lot more fishing before winter sets in...
My updates this coming week will be in the evenings, since I'll be working days. If you want to know when, then sign up for my reminder list. It's fun and easy...
