Journal Entry
Well, I went to bed about 02:00, carrying Lacee into her bedroom. I got up at about 05:00 to pee, and there she was... on the other side of Karen! She's a sneaky little girl sometimes.
Everyone left, and I got up about 10:00... that's eight hours... and I felt pretty good. I updated the Keirsey Profiles, a task that takes about an hour, then I went down to Carroll's electronic supplies to get some cables. Yesterday, I had gone to Best Buy to get a setup for linking the two computers to a single keyboard and monitor; they didn't have the stuff, so I went to a computer store and got the switch box, but they didn't have the cables.
So now I have all of the materials... I just need to put it all together. And it cost less than buying a separate monitor, which I really don't have room for anyway... and it lets me use my Cirque keyboard with both machines. I'm happy... or I will be, when I get it set up.

And I didn't even cut off the cord. I'm proud of myself.
So... my next step is clearing off the desk and making room for the Linux box. But first... I gotta get the CDROM working. I never did get it to work in DOS, but it would with the LINUX system, when I could get that far along on the install. So I don't know what the hell's the matter with it, I only know that I gotta fix it.
No word back from the LINUX gurus from RedHat, either. They're slow, but I'm patient.
I might try geting some more sleep later this afternoon, so that I can stay up all day tomorrow. If it doesn't work, then I'll take a nap when I get home. At any rate, I won't lose any sleep over it...
More later... or, if not later, then tomorrow... Friday, 24 July, 1998 18:42
That didn't work out worth a damn. Sleeping, I mean. O'well. Unfortunately, neither did the switch-boxing with the computers. The monitor part works, but the keyboard part worked for a while then blew up, I guess. Again, O'well.
So, I have a coupla hours to play here, I'll probably work on the LINUX machine until it's time to get cleaned up and go to work. At least the monitor switch works, so I can install the x-windows portion... if I ever get it to work at all.
Tomorrow...
