Another rough night... but I wasn't that busy. No, I was thinking... yeah, I was thinking at work, it's OK, it's right there in my job description...
The no-lunch thing has come to a head. I spent some time composing a letter to the head of Human Resources (usta be Personnel, y'know...) and I'll work on it some more this weekend and take it in to her on Monday.
I'm pretty sure that it will not be well-received... if the issue is addressed properly, it will cost the hospital money. And they don't like to spend money.
And I don't like to see people having to work without getting paid. I'm sure that the NLRB would have a lot to say about that, too, but I do hope that it doesn't come to that.
Another bug up my ass... they're closing down our smoking area, they've built a new one... right next to the cafeteria dumpster, and outside of the secure perimeter. The old one will close on Monday morning.
The new one is a lot further away... not nearly so handy. And, as I mentioned, it will not be secure... anyone can come off of the street for shelter there. This is going to keep a lot of nurses away from it, at least during the evening and night hours.
And it's about half of the size of the old one. And it's not wheelchair accessible... and you have to know the door code to get back into the hospital... so that prevents visitors from using it after the hospital is secured at 20:30 every night.
It will be interesting around the hospital next week... interesting indeed.
And, while we're on the subject... I've started a new web-ring! the Smoke-ring Journals will be composed of on-line journallers who smoke, are ex-smokers or wannabe ex-smokers. So far, I'm the only one there, of course, since I just did it a few minutes ago, and haven't announced it yet...
And my thanx go out to Katy Mulvey for the Smoke-Ring name suggestion. There is also a smokering ring, but they seem to be concerned with dope more than cigarettes.
Now I need an artiste to contribute a graphic. I don't have the time right now to do one, and, to be frank(lin) about it, my mind is pretty well shot right now.
Arrgh. I did a graphic anyway... and I don't really like it. Not very interesting, huh? So somebody outdo me. Please!
