Well, I'm feeling guilty now. 'Cause I kinda told a lie.

I said that the assistant leaned on my abdomen... well, she really didn't lean in it, just put her hand down to steady herself once.

But the point is... I thought that she was gonna lean on me.

And... since I said that I would write about it, I will.

I no longer dread going to the dentist. I used to just hate it, and dreadfully anticipate it weeks in advance. But my philosophy on pain and death has changed since my coronaries, especially the last one. So I don't worry.

So this guy that did the root canal is an endodontist. And I think that he makes a lot of money. He had the latest equipment... digital dental x-ray! And all kinds of other gadgets.

And he had four of the most stunningly beautiful women working for him. I'm not usually affected by physical beauty, but such a collection!

There are a lot of things that I'm leaving unsaid about this...

This was not an altogether bad experience, but it wasn't as fun as sleeping would have been. I was going on three hours of sleep from the day before, after all.

And the guy used a rubber dam to keep all of the goop out of my mouth, that was pretty nice. One of the bad things about dental work is gagging from all of the stuff that they accidentally drop down your gullet.

I tried to get the girl to put the images on a disk for me, but she wasn't that technologically advanced, she admitted... so she gave me prints to scan.980703 These images aren't really good, but they show the area of decay and one of the probes that he used to make sure that he was through the tip of the root.

He told me that I should not use that tooth for anything other than smiling, because there isn't very much tooth left and there is a good possibility that it would fracture. So I'm being really careful. I'll go in next week to my regular dentist and he'll reinforce it with a post and then put a cap on it. More fun... more money. My mouth is worth more than the rest of me put together...

Work. Two really busy nights. Interesting cases, interesting people. Made me tired, though.

And my favorite nurse was working, but I didn't get a backrub... too damned busy. And I was looking forward to that...

More tomorrow.
