'Twas a long old night, and it wore me out damned near. My legs, anyway.

I had a bad feeling when I came in and fifteen minutes later all of the computer systems went down. Seems that someone had (metaphorically) kicked a plug out of the socket, and the UPS system failed, as it's wont to do every other time that it's called upon...

So the problem was not so much getting the work done, but trying to figger out what I had done and what I needed to get done. This sounds pretty simple, but some nights it isn't, and this was one of those nights.

Keeping the paperwork straight is pretty straightforward when the computers are working, and an utter nightmare when they're not. Especially when one system is up and the other is down.... many duplicated records, etc.

And... most of the nurses in the ER were grinchy, partly because the secretary had left early and partly just because they just were, that's all, thank you.

So I had to avoid rousing the their ire, which I'm pretty good at, if I do say so myself. My main motivation is watching them devastate the people who are foolish enough to piss them off. I don't want to be there...

And damned near all of my patients were whiney. The ones that weren't whiney smelled bad, and some of them smelled bad and were whiney too.

And I'm not gonna talk about the fat ugly drunk ones. No I'm not.

My friend Eileene is going to start a web site, and I'm looking forward to helping her with that, although I don't think that she'll need much help after the initial introduction to HTML. Like I've said before, she's a very smart person.

I miss hearing from Mom... I've gotta get down and get her computer going. I ordered a couple of 1.2 gig drives, I figgered that I'd use one for the unix system, since I can't seem to get everything I need on the 540 that's in there now. 980701But I'm gonna have to wait another week since I work Saturday night, dammit. And I'm not sure when brother Dan is getting there.

I had to stay over this morning... two of the five techs called in sick, and I had to get my TB done so I can get it read on Friday so I can get my evaluation (and hopefully, a small bonus...). I'm going to get recertified on my CPR Friday night, too. It's amazing, but I've been certified for 30+ years, about half of that as an instructor, and I have never done CPR. I've come pretty close to being a recipient a couple of times, though...

Like I said earlier... I'm tard, going to bed now.

Thanx for being here!
