Happy birthday Karen!

We got up around 08:00 after a fair nights' sleep, for me anyway... Karen, as usual, slept quite well. Most of the guys were playing in a golf tournament this morning, but I declined the invitations and stayed in the Air Conditioning.

The brunch started at 10:30, and we got there right on time and so did everyone else. This is a noisy bunch of people, too! Either that, or the acoustics in this place were atrocious. But this bunch was noisy outside last night, too....

After the brunch was winding down, I started feeling really tired, so I begged off and drove back to Vicky & Jacks and laid down for a little while, but due to the vast quantities of coffee that I had consumed I was unable to go to sleep. I heard everyone come back around 12:30 and gave up on sleeping.

Then there was a lunch here starting about 13:30, and that was really nice, there were fourteen of us and again, everyone had a great time.

This group is of an age when most of their pretensions are being dropped, and it makes for interesting com\conversations for me to eavesdrop on.

There is only one other smoker in this immediate group, one of the two ladies who left Parsons while they were in the ninth or tenth grade but who were good childhood friends with everyone here. Anyway, she and I have spent quite a bit of time together and I really like her. She lives in Lawrence, so we will all connect on a more regular basis, since Karen likes her a lot too.

And it was fun! Once again, the group presented decibels above legal limits. Although it was legal and proper to smoke in the building, I took the opportunity to go out frequently to relieve my ears as well as my need for nicotine.

Karen and the other girl from Topeka were presented with a 58th birthday cake by the class of '58, and there were other comical comments during the pre-dance speaker's presentation. All in all, probably a pretty typical reunion. I danced with Karen a couple of times and with a couple of other girls (That Karen had pre-approved) and generally enjoyed myself by eavesdropping on conversations.

Everyone started getting yawny about 23:00, and we were among the last to leave at 23:30... and I don't think that I'll have any trouble getting to sleep tonight at all, at all...
