A few things that I left out of yesterdays entry...
Karen and I took Brian back to Lawrence, then we went downtown to look around and eat. We ate breakfast at the Paradise Cafe, and it was excellent. We also had a good talk, something that we've needed to do for a coupla weeks now.

And I got twelve hours of sleep Saturday night. I needed that, too, since I couldn't get a nap to work Saturday.

And about eight last night. Which will probably put me in a bind for tonight at work, but I'm just not gonna worry about that.

So... we're caught up to now. And right now I'm downloading HomeSite again, so I can reinstall that. Luckily, I found a disk with ACDsee on it, and I found the slip of paper with the registration number, so I'm OK there. Same with CUTE, the FTP program that I use. I'd updated that before I went to Enid last time, so it still had the right passwords and data. That made me happy. And I also remembered my password from my local ISP, after a coupla false starts.

So I'm getting close to where I otta be...

This whole damned thing is so frustrating, though. I wasn't too upset when I found that the kids had been banging on the keyboard, because it's so hard to really break anything. But they did it. And it cost me two days, and I've lost some stuff that was irreplacible. So I'm pissed off now.

I hate to think about locking up the computer room, but I think that's what its come to. I don't mind doing this when it happened through my stupidity (which was every other time)(well, I do mind, but you know what I mean) but when someone else does it, even unintentionally, I'm pissed. And you shouldn't have to supervise kids every minute... you tell them to stay away from something, they should stay away, dammit.

As for my notify/reminder list... it's gone. And it will stay gone in its' former form. Instead, to receive update notices, please subscribe to my new mail-list, nilky-l. Details when I get them, this is a new list and a new deal altogether for me. This list can either be interactive or one-way, and I'm leaning towards making it interactive.

I'm just hoping that those people who were on my list will miss me and come here without my reminder and read this...

Anyhoo, what prompted me to look for the CD drive to start with... this was Saturday afternoon... was that I wanted to use Partition Magic, which I had got from eBay last week and hadn't had time to open yet. When I opened it, I found that it had already been opened. Well, no big deal. So I went to install it... and there was no CD drive. After all is fixed, I went to install it today... and it wanted the serial number. The program said that the serial number was on a card in the book. No, it wasn't. So I wrote to the people that sold it to me, and I just got a reply back from them... gee, sorry, we're sending another copy today, they sez.

Maybe I need to quit buying software on eBay. I'm running about 50/50 right now.

Well, I've spent all of my awake time on this computer today, and I feel like taking a nap, so I'm gonna do that...
