The first of June... kinda like the first real day of summer, in my head, anyway. I think that I'm gonna like this summer... I just got that feeling.
I got a picture from Mom today, and here it is:
She doesn't look eighty, does she? Think that she otta quit using that as an excuse for everything? (That's a joke, Mom! ... Mom?)
I finally got my memory for the Compaq today... I should've got it on Friday, but I screwed up. Yes, me, I screwed up, hard as that is to believe. Karen had brought in the little yellow slip of paper, it said to sign it and that they would then leave the package. So I signed it... and put it in the mailbox! And the damned slip said UPS all over it. And do you think that the UPS guy (or gal) is gonna look in the mailbox? Not on your life, they ain't.
And UPS doesn't work on Saturday... so I had two of those notes sticking to my door, one inside and one outside. And I was downstairs when they delivered it, so I'm happy.
So, I thought that I'd bought another 32 Megs and paid a pretty high price because they're for a Compaq... but it was 64 Megs that I bought. So now I've got 88 Meg on board. That makes me really happy, 'cause this thing runs like a demon now. Well, not really, but it doesn't bog down when I've got three or four memory-sapping programs open.
I've made it to a coupla more 'burbs on the journal scene... ones that do daily images.
While I had the case for the Compaq open, I thought that I'd go ahead and install the FM Radio board that I got on eBay for $8.00... but I couldn't find a place to connect it to the sound board without disabling something else, so I put it back in the bag. Some other time, some other machine...
I did some calling around on the vehicles today... more bad news. It seems like nobody wants to buy them. They're too old and have too many miles on them. One guy said that he'd give me about 1/2 of the blue book price if they were in excellent shape... he was a wholesaler. Then he told me to put an ad in the paper... which I will do again, cutting the asking price by $1000.00 for each one.
That's pretty damned discouraging, especially since they'd make someone a pretty nice car/van. O'well. Like I said yesterday, I seem to get screwed both ways, buying and selling. I just need to get used to it.
I hate vehicles. They're transportation, dammit, that's all that they are. Expensive, frustrating, polluting transportation. Again... O'well. I guess that I can live with it.
I was inspired to hook up my scanner, which has been idled since I moved downstairs.
There are actually quite a few of us out there, and I'm sure that neither of these sites is complete...
