It's been a beautiful day here in Topeka, except for the wind. It has been steadily increasing all afternoon, and we're supposed to get some thunderstorms tonight.

I got up about 07:30 and Kim was just going out the door and Karen had already left. I made a pot of coffee and caught up with my email.

For breakfast, I had a mix of Wheat Chex and generic corn flakes. There wasn't but a half a bowlful in each box... I do that a lot, it seems. Nobody else around here will eat a half a bowl of anything, I don't think...

I decided to go over and work on the building that I have in Oakland... someone had busted out another window while we were on vacation, so I boarded them all up. Shoulda done that years ago, I980511.jpg guess. I went out to Lowes after I'd cleaned up the glass and measured the windows and bought a couple of sheets of plywood. It was on sale for $16.00 a sheet, but it rang up on the register as $7.99; I didn't say anything to the lady about it, but I did feel slightly guilty. Dammit, I shouldn't have to tell them how to run their business, should I?

I got home and cut the plywood and loaded it and the ladder into the truck and went clear back over to Oakland again. It was a struggle getting the boards up, especially with the wind.

I was in a kind of constructive mood when I got back, so I got out the rake and started preparing the bare ground for seeding. The damned rake kept breaking, though, I didn't get a lot done. Frustrated, I went to the north side of the house and started breaking up and sawing up and stacking up all of the limbs that have gathered there since last summer.

Once that was done, I cut some plywood and 2X4s and sealed up the cat door... another chore that I'd been putting off for quite a while.

So I think that I've done enough actual work today, so I can goof off a little and not feel guilty. I've got a dentist's appointment in the morning, and then I need to get some sleep tomorrow before I start back to work again,,,

O'yeah, I got Quicken to load... my 3.5" drive was unbelievably dirty... I cleaned it with a q-tip, the q-tip came out black... So now I can catch up on the checkbook, I guess. Maybe I won't goof off tonight anyway...

More tomorrow...

Thanx for being here!
