Anyway, that was a nightmare. You can't copy windows files while windows is running... of while DOS is running either. I guess that you have to do it with the computer turned off... I sure as hell couldn't find a way to do it, anyway. So I wound up doing the good old Compaq quick restore, which is a royal pain.
I now have nine gigs of storage space. And about half of that is in duplicate file structures... which I'm agonna fix some other time.
Even worse, my mail is all fu*ked up again. I've now got about six directories with mail in them... and no practical way of combining them.
Other than that, everything is just great.
The only problem that I have right now, and it is a major one, is getting Quicken 98 back up. I can't get it to run, and the installation disks don't work... I keep getting an error. Very frustrating again, even more. I'm gonna try their site and see if they can't help me. For some reason or another, I bought it on 3.5 inch floppies. I don't know what posessed me to do that...
It was a beautiful day, even though I spent it in the basement. I've still got a lot of moving to do, but I need to do some re-arranging first, and I haven't got the energy for it right now after fighting with this damned Compaq.
In fact, I might go to bed shortly after the sun does. Which is pretty quick now...
And you thought this was going to be a technical discussion... heh...
Lotta physical work getting stuff downstairs (and that's not all done yet... just the necessary stuff...) and a lot of mental work putting it all back together.
19:43...
And I think that I've finally got this computer back together... after yet another format and quick-restore. Yes, it's getting frustrating. Work, work, work, no time to play.
