I mentioned the other day that I otta be a "star"; well, I didn't really mean that. I have way too much humility and not nearly enough ego for that...

No, really, all I want is to be recognized for my genius and be adequately... no, generously compensated as such. The public acclaim I can do without. It would be such a bother, anyway, fighting off all of those young beautiful women. (insert imaginary smiley of your choice here...)

I'm doing pretty well tonight on just 3.5 hours of sleep. I went to bed about 12:00 and decided that I was going to lay there until I went to sleep... and that happened sometime after 15:30, which was the last time that I looked at the clock.

All in all, a very pleasant night. Remember how busy I said that I was last night? Well, that was how un-busy I was tonight. I didn't do a patient between 24:00 and 04:30. Of course, all hell broke loose at 04:30, I needed to be in three places at the same time.

That crises was soon over, and I was looking forward at 07:00. About 06:45 I looked at the schedule, and I noticed that nobody was coming in until 07:30! My heart was broken... Karen didn't have to be in until 08:00 and I could have spent 15 minutes with her if I could have left at 07:00. Damndamndamn!

I found out when I got home that I had bought a Dell DX-66 system last night for $158.00, so I went to the post office and sent the guy a MO. This system is going down to Enid so Mom will have internet access finally. The 386 that I gave her a coupla years ago is not up to the job... or at least, I can't maintain a DOS system over the phone. S**t, I probably couldn't even do it at home now... I been a windows kinda guy for too long.

I will be able to get it set up here before I take it down there, which will save a lot of time. I still need to pick up a 33.6 modem somewhere between now and when I deliver it, though.

When I got home, Karen had laid out the registration papers for the vehicles... I thought that they were due today, but I got another month to get them. I'm gonna mail them in, I think... much less hassle that way. I'm glad that Karen realized that I was a month ahead of myself!

I just had a really nice long talk with Mom... I haven't talked to her since before we went on vacation. I let her know I was going to bring the computer down sometime and got caught up on all of the local gossip. She sounded really good, full of energy with the spring. She loves being outdoors, working on her yard and garden. I gotta get down there soon and see her...

JD is coming up on May 15th, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him, too. I don't know if Tyler is coming with him or not, but JD sounded like he wasn't. I guess I'll find out on the 15th...
