29 APRIL 1998

Yesterday was not a good day for me; not at all. Except for the part where I was asleep.

After I wrote the entry yesterday, I went to the post office to pick up a package and mail some money orders. The package that I picked up was my copy of Photoshop. It was hand-addressed, and the return was also hand-addressed. Hmmm, I think.

Got home and opened the package. It was in a sealed envelope which looked right... but the CD wasn't sealed. I went ahead and loaded it and it loaded right. So I went to Adobes' site to register it... and they said that it was already registered. S**T!

I had bought it for $95.00 at the eBay auction, the guy had something like 60 copies to sell. I wrote to the other buyers, and some of them had copies that would register and some that wouldn't. I didn't figger out how this could actually happen until last night... the copies were all used or stolen, but only some of them had been registered. I guess that a lot of people don't register their software, especially if it belongs to the company that they work for, or if they're just lazy....

I went back to eBay to check on the rating (negative v positive) that the guy had, and he showed up with a -7, where before when I checked his rating there were no responses... so he'd gotten at least 7 980429.jpgpeople pissed off at him in just a coupla days.

Later...
Well, the guy didn't actually *say* that they were legit copies, just that on-line registration was available. But that still doesn't make him innocent, they're still pirated copies and Adobe and the Software Piracy people will still be right pissed at him...

Interestingly enough... I also got another package in the mail yesterday from an auction... Microsoft Office 97 Professional. In a sealed jewel box, with a number that fully registered.

Ah well...

Rough night again last night. Busy almost all of the night long, once again nothing interesting, just lotsa sick people. An unusual number of grouchy humorless people for a change... not much fun to work with. And, of course, I didn't get much sleep yesterday, about five hours. I'll get back on schedule by the time it's time to change around again...

Thanx for being here!
