27 APRIL 1998

We just got back from eating at Applebees' with Kim and Bob. Steak night, $2.00 off, Kim and I had the Bourbon Street steak; it was not nearly as good as usual.

Gloomy, rainy day. I went to sleep about 03:00 last night, moving Lacee into Kims' room. I really hate to do that, but I can't sleep in the same bed with her... she is constantly moving, kicking and thrashing around. Kim and Karen are sound sleepers, so she doesn't bother them any.

I got up around 07:30, though, for some reason or another, and once I was up I stayed up... 'til about 11:30. Karen woke me up around 17:00, when she got home. I had missed a delivery from the post office, dammit. Most likely my Photoshop. I'll have to go get it from the PO in the morning.

So I need to rant about a coupla things. The first is... why, when someone is in a line to pay for something, do they seem to be surprised and completely unprepared when it's their turn? This is most often the ladies, of course. Like, they've been waiting in this line in front of you for five minutes, their stuff gets rung up and it's suddenly like, "What? I gotta PAY?" Yeah, lady, you gotta pay. So then the purse gets rummaged through and she comes up with a checkbook... or a wad of bills and change. If it's the checkbook, she has to write everything up, always asking the clerk the date at least twice... if it's the bills and change, there's never enough, so she has to rummage around in the purse for another three minutes looking for pennies...

The other thing is... handicapped stalls in restrooms. I read something in Ann Landers (or that other gal, Abby) a few months ago, indicating that only handicapped people are supposed to use the handicapped stalls. That ticked me off, because I always use the one that's open, handicapped or not. Of course, I've never heard anyone else say anything about it... so maybe I shouldn't get upset.

OK, I'm not.

It's supposed to continue raining here for a couple more days, then get nicer by the weekend. It was cold enough in her this morning that I turned the heat back on... it's been off for the last week or so.

And we're leaving the porch light on so that the finches (brother Dan says they're probably finches) who live there won't get cold...

Thanx for being here!
