Wednesday 01 APRIL 1998...
April fools day... no foolin' here, but there are a bunch of other journalers who are exchange-writing in other peoples' journals today. I'll have to check them out when I get home. There is a central URL for who's doing what, but I don't have it...
We got another late start today, and Karen and I went downtown to explore. We parked in front of a restaurant and went walking... in the wrong direction, it turns out. It had been raining steadily, but it had changed to only occasional showers. We decided that there was nothing downtown, so we went back to the restaurant and had lunch and asked the waitress for directions. Yep, we went the wrong way in the exact opposite direction. So much for my dead reckoning abilities...
We re-parked a couple of blocks away at a mall and walked around a while, then went to the museum of Science. We were going to go in but I was feeling pretty crummy in the tummy so we walked back to the car and drove around some more. I stopped and bought a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. I decided that it was going to be impossible to both stop smoking and enjoy this vacation.
We returned to Chuck and Judys' and Judy was home and we went for a walk. Not to a mountain this time, but to a park close to where they live. Pretty long walk, and we walked over a local, very expensive attraction.... the Grasshopper bridge.
Karen and I were pooped when we got back, so we turned on the TV and vegged. The Paula Jones case had been dismissed, and so we watched CNN for the rest of the evening. I'm really happy that's over; I wonder what my right-wing friends think of it... now what's-his-name needs to give up on the Monica thing. Clinton is clean, but the Republican assholes just can't believe it. Sure, he's a womanizer... we all have our burdens to bear... but they are so anxious to discredit him that they are spending our money hand over fist and making themselves look like the fools that they are.
I do believe that truly evil people cannot believe that everyone else is as not as evil and crooked as they themselves are. There are those who believe that I am not supposed to judge... but I'm just as qualified, if not more, than anyone else in the world.
Judy made us omelettes for supper... have I mentioned that she's a wonderful cook? I have? OK...
So we went to bed about 21:00, anticipating a full day tomorrow.
