I finally finally FINALLY heard from my virtual server/domain people, and nilknarf.com will be ready tomorrow! And of course, this is the most inopportune time, since we will be leaving for vacation on Friday morning, and I will have virtually no time to work on it during the next two weeks...

In the meantime, those of you familiar with graphics, especially P*, will have noticed that I found the "smudge" tool. It is too damned fun to put in the hands of irresponsible people, as evidenced in yesterday's graphic.

There is probably a distinct pattern that graphix professionals recognize when a non-artistic webperson like me gets ahold of P* and uses it like they don't have a clue: First, just the presence of crude and superfluous grafix on formerly-bare-text pages; then the use of various filters; then the smudge tool... OK, folks, what's next? Let's see, I've already figgered out layers... but I haven't a clue what to do with masks yet: but that might be far, far in the future...

And when I get back from vacation, I will have I*7.0 to play with! And you think that I eat up bandwidth now? Just you wait....

I just had a weird thought... maybe, if I get artistic enough, Lucy will invite me...no, beg me, to join Archipelago! Nonono, Lucy! Don't hit me! That is a joke! A joke, I said!

Actually, it was just about a year ago when all of that happened... and I definitely don't want to bring it up again! So no links....

On the down side, I never got any sleep yesterday. Right now I don't feel too bad, but I know that I will later on. This schedule is killing me... I was up more than 28 hours on Saturday, tomorrow at 07:00 I will have been up for 24, and it'll probably be 09:00 before I get to sleep...

Those silly people at the virtual domain place... instead of just assigning me a password, they requested one, then they will set up the directory... I could've lived with it real well if they would've just assigned me one... then they needed to know if I would be using Front Page to upload, or FTP. Why does it make a difference? I sure as hell don't know... but I am really anxious to get my hands on the 100 MB of space, so I can spread out a little. I'm also gonna put JD's page up there, and Tyler's, if he ever gets around to it. And Steve Tonar's too, come to think of it...

And I will still have the 20 MB here at www.networksplus.net/nilknarf/ ... 5 at Tripod, 5 at Geocities, 5 at xoom... damn, I got a lot of space! I actually have some at Fortunecities, too, 10 MB I think, but their server is so damned s-l-o-o-o-o-w.... there is no way that I will use all of that up! (That kinda reminds me of when I got my first 40 MB hard drive... "what am I gonna do with all of this room?!" ...Why, fill it up with porn, of course, like every other red-blooded american boy...

That was a joke, folks... I would never do something like that unless I could make some money on it!

I've decided against trying to update this journal while I'm on vacation; I do believe that I'm going to try to keep a paper (gasp) journal while we're on the road, though. I've never really kept a paper journal before, so it will be a new experience for me.

It's 05:45 and I'm getting slap-happy, I'm afraid. Plus it's really hard to hold my eyes open, and I'm starting to get laryngitis... my voice is cracking like a teenage boys does. Wouldn't it be wild if I got sick and couldn't work Thursday night? That is the night that I had requested off and they wouldn't give me... I think that I would actually have to be admitted to the hospital to get anyone to believe me...

Home finally... and I realized that I have to do a twelve tonight, so I need to go in at 19:00, which is gonna cut into my sleep time considerably. O'well... two more nights, then two wonderful weeks plus some with Karen!
