16 MARCH 1998

I really shouldn't end and entry with a phrase like "More later..." because it never happens. A self-fulfilling prophesy in reverse...

Yesterday was a slouch day. I sat around and read the paper, then I sat around and played on the web, then I sat around and watched TV, then I sat around and played on the web.

I got to watch the Jayhawks lose to a normally-inferior basketball team in the second round of the NCAA tournament. This is the fifth time that they've lost a second-round game in that tournament, and I won a bet about that. I'll never get paid, though.

This morning Steve came over and I helped him do his taxes using Turbo-tax. That was a couple-three hours, and he was right happy with the results. Then I checked on mine on-line and yup! They're ready to file. One more envelope to mail and I'm done with it all, except for picking up the checks...

This is another gloomy day here in Kansas. After Steve left, I went out to get a carton of cigarettes at Smokes-4-less and was reminded that Karen had broken off the windshield wiper when she took the truck to work last week. So, with the driver's-side wiper gone and the rain coming down, I said to my self, "self, you better get another wiper!" and I agreed. So I stopped at the auto parts place and picked out a blade and took it to the counter.

Preparatory to ringing it up, the guy asked me, "Will this be all?"

And I sez, "Yeah, I guess so. I just wish that they sold the parts that attach the blades to the wiper-arms, but I don't see them anywhere..."

So the guy cancelled the sale and brought out a box from under the counter; "Here!" he said, "Maybe you can find what you need in here!"

So I found what I needed and attached the blade and came back into the store. "What do I owe ya?" I asked him.

"Not a thing!" he said. I gave him a dollar anyway, just for being such a nice guy.

I just love it when nice things happen to me!

Thanx for being here!
