Well, I finally gave in to the damned computer and restored the original files from my C: backup in January. This has some good and bad aspects to it, like everything else in this fucked-up world.

Good stuff:
• I can use Photoshop again.
• I can use Quicken again.

Bad Stuff:
• I have to re-do everything that I've done since 12 Jan 98.
• I still have the errors that got me here in the first place.

Luckily, I have backups on my E: drive of stuff that I have done recently; since my E: drive seems to be solid, I will keep all of my data there and back it up regularly.

As far as the error, I don't remember having the error that I'm getting that early in January. It all started out with a message when I use Control Panel, something about an error when using some *.CPL file. So maybe it wasn't ICQ anyway, though I'm still gonna not use ICQ for the nonce. Just to be safe.

I have decided that I'm never going to get my nilknarf.com virtual server; they have been screwing around way too long. So I've moved all my stuff over to HTTP//Networksplus.net/nilknarf/ until I can figger what I'm going to do next. Of course, you already know that, since you're here and reading this. And if you aren't reading this, I have no hope for you anyway.

I still don't have all of the design changes made that I wanted to do; lazy, I think. What I want to do is use cascading style sheets on everything but this page and the splash page. Incidentally, to avoid the splash page, use the URL http://www.networksplus.net/nilknarf/j.htm which will bring you directly to this page. I really like the splash page, but I don't expect daily readers to put up with the download time that it requires.

I got up very late today, around 11:30. Patrick has a snow day, and he stayed over at Steve's last night and came over at 08:45, but he just watched TV until I got up. Then Kim came home shortly after noon, she had to pick up Lacee because the babysitter had a doctor's appointment. So right now, I'm still working on my first pot of coffee, getting woke up slowly.

And it's winter out, finally. Temp around 20F and wind chill below zero, a normal January/February day in Kansas. Problem is, it's March already... O'well, I said that I missed having a winter this year, didn't I?

Kim said that the computers are down at Blue Cross, so Karen is sitting there answering the phone and telling the people to call back in a few days... how boring. I don't know how she does it. Customer service... Ewww!!

So... I'm gonna get this up and take down the site on Kspress. More later, maybe, but fer sure tomorrow.

Well, I did do some more stuff today... like start putting my picture up. This will be a daily thing, I hope that you like it...

What with all of the changing I've been doing, I've lost a lot of my e-mail for the last few days... or maybe the last month. I had a whole bunch of people write me happy birthday letters, and I was planning on replying to them... but now the letters (and their addresses) are gone. So let me just say Thank you! to all of those good people at the same time!
