22 FEBRUARY 1998

I got about four hours of sleep yesterday, Karen woke me up at about 14:00; then she and Kim and the grandkids went to
Garyn">'s birthday party. I was finally fully awake when they got home, and we started working on the basement. We filled up both of our refuse bins, we'll have to go with plastic sacks from here on out.
So, later... Kim went to a show with a friend and Steve had the grandkids. Karen and I were going to go see
wag the dog but she was talking on the phone with
Chuck in Phoenix so we would've been late, so we went to Denny's instead. I was originally thinking of just getting a chocolate malt, but Karen was hungry so we split a bacon-cheddar-burger. I got the malt too, natch.
Then we went to Best Buy; I was thinking of buying a couple of movies instead of renting them, but the selection was pretty crappy, so we moved on to Hastings.
We rented Con Air, which Karen had rented before but I missed seeing, and Brasil, which I have heard goot things about. So we watched Con Air and I'll watch the other one by myself.
While we were there, I was looking through their closeout stuff, and I found a copy of To Hell and Back with Audie Murphy for five bucks, and I couldn't pass it up. I watched it about fifteen times as a kid, but I haven't seen it for thirty years.
After the movie, we hot-tubbed for about thirty minutes, got all wrinkly. The night was cloudy, and we could hear the geese going north above the sussuration of the traffic. I have just recently noticed the traffic noise; we're about a mile from the interstate, and I can constantly hear the noise late at night when I'm out on the porch smoking.
Which action, of course, I will be not doing anymore very soon. Speaking of which, I got some mail from a reader, Carol, who is going on two months not smoking. I wish her the best of luck, and I would like to have some of it too!
Karen and I slept in late this morning, very enjoyable. She very seldom gets enough sleep, getting up at 06:00 or earlier most mornings. She does have the gift of being able to go to sleep as soon as her head hits the pillow, though, and she can sleep through damned near anything.
I might not have mentioned lately how much I love her... a lot.
More tomorrow!
Thanx for being here!
