14 FEBRUARY 1998

In the early, early morning...

It has been a very hectic night. Not really busy, but everything happening at once type-of-thing. It was actually pretty fun, and I learned how to do something.

A patient was sent in from one of the outlying hospitals... she was a pretty big lady, and the word that I got was that they couldn't get good films on her. The assumption was that they couldn't see the C-7/T-1 vertebrae... Well, no problem, sez I; bring me on a challenge! Well, it was a challenge... not because she was big, but because she had an unexpected high cervical fracture! So... I learned several ways of how not to do a cervical spine CT, and I learned the proper way too.

And, of course, making mistakes takes time... and there were other patients waiting on me while I was screwing up. Well, screwing up is a little too strong... while I was struggling to complete the one exam, I should say. Restrospectively, I should've called in the CT tech, but at the time I didn't think I needed to, and by the time I knew that I should've, it was way too late. But I eventually got what I needed to get for the diagnosis, and I even figgered out how to do saggital and coronal resonstructions!

Don't worry if you can't follow the terminioloy... it really means nothing to someone not in medicine, and I just love to use big words!

And the rest of the night was relatively uneventful, just regular patients, nothing really interesting. And the weird thing is... I got a full day's sleep yesterday too! That's three nights in a row! I am rather weary right now, though, mostly from stress, I think.

Karen went in to work early this morning, I woke her up at 05:15, and she is going to work until 10:00. Steve has to go to work at 10:00, and he'll bring the kids over, so I have to stay awake 'til Karen gets home. Shouldn't be a problem, I'm still drinking coffee and it's past 06:00 now. So I won't drink any more afterI get off at 07:00, and it should work out about right. Again, I will only sleep about four hours, so I can do the turn-around thing.

Valentines' Day 1998
To Karen

Are you weary
Of me saying
I love you?

Are you bored with hearing it
Ten times a day?

Has the *new* worn off
Of our romance?
Are you tired
Of my voice
When I say

I will always love you?

If you are then
I'll go away.

Well, get ready for a lifetime of "boring"
Of hearing me say the same thing
Get ready for a lifetime of me
Loving you and whispering your name.

The same old songs
The same old poems
The same old guy
Forever
Saying the same old things...

I love you, Karen.

Well, hell. Despite Karen's wishes, I'm going to put my Valentine's Days poem up here. I'm not afraid to let the world know how much I love her! Of course, you won't see the fancy fonts that I used, or the hearts I drew on it....

Thanx for being here!
