It's been a pretty nice weekend so far. I got up yesterday about 17:00 and we didn't do much, just sat around visiting. Karen was tired, she'd taken the grandkids to Lawrence for a birthday party at Brian's, and she went to bed before 22:00. Mom lasted a little longer, going to bed about 22:45, and I stayed up until 02:00.

Quite a while ago, I volunteered to keep a list of journaler's Keirsey Profiles, and I did it originally with MS Access. I remember spending several days doing it... but since then, I've just been adding additional data by hand in four different files. Well, I reminded everyone on diary-l that I was doing this, and I got a whole lot of additional info... so I decided to go back to Access. Bad mistake.

I couldn't remember how I'd done it before, but I do remember not being happy with it at all. Now, I have been, in the past, a dBase expert (well, FoxPlus, same diff) and I figgered that Access would be a lot simpler.

WRONG!

'Cause I can't figger it out. I've been working since last night, and I do have it cobbled together so that it works, but it's a real cludge and I'm not at all happy with it. Now, if it was in FoxPlus, I would write a really elegant little program to automatically update all of the HTML files when the database was updated. In fact, I damned near went down to find my old Fox+ disks... but I resisted.

I'm a stubborn sonofabitch sometimes. I let the fucking cigarettes beat me, but Access sure as hell isn't going to!

Anyway, that's all that's been happening. I'm enjoying Mom being here, and we have touched on religion a little without anyone getting upset... except for Karen cringing, of course, expecting the worst, she was!

Karen is off with me tomorrow, and Mom will be leaving in the AM sometime, so I'm gonna spend the rest of the evening visiting with her, and turn this damned machine off!
