While you were sleeping...
Back to work, and they are not running me too hard, but I can run if need be. I am really delighted to be able to walk and not hurt.
Brother Dan sent me some email, and he mentioned that medicine, while being very expensive, is pretty damned cheap in the long run. 30 years ago, with this disease, I probably would have been disabled, and on the dole for the next fifteen years. Now, I can be back at work, paying taxes, for the next fifteen (or more) years. It probably only cost about $4,000.00 to have this balloon procedure done. That is maybe three months (or less) worth of disability pay. I will pay that much in FICA and Medicare taxes this next year... and the year after, and the year after that... plus income taxes. Yes. it was a bargain.
Later on... it was not too bad a night, all in all. I did do some running and I did OK. I have realized that my legs are out of shape, and that I have a tendency to limp even when there is no longer a reason to. The mind is weird. My legs are sore, I think from all of the extra walking I've been doing, getting into shape. The soreness is a whole lot different from that which I had before.
Actually, my whole body is pretty tired. The 07:00 guy called in sick again today and I had to stay over, which kinda gets me riled anyway. It doesn't happen very often, but it always seems to happen just when I'm the tiredest and want to go home the worst. And I'd already told Karen that I was going to hurry home so I could see her, and then I had to call her back and tell her that I couldn't. And that makes me sad.
And the boys will be home tonight!
More tomorrow.....
